Music instead of Hamburg? – Hamburg, city of music!
This is where the music plays – in Hamburg!
Which famous composers worked in Hamburg? How did they live and what did they think about? We will take a virtual journey through the city of music, visiting important places in Hamburg’s musical history through a series of images and audio clips. We will link Hamburg’s extensive musical history with stages that still exist today.
Program
The first part of our online tour of the city of music begins in the heart of Hamburg. This is where not only the city’s history began, but also its musical history. The main churches of St. Petri and St. Jacobi were among the most important musical venues in the city. We will then explore Hamburg’s ‘Neustadt’ district with the State Opera, the Laeiszhalle, the Lichtwarksaal and the composers’ quarter, where the first part of the online tour ends.
For
Those interested in music history
