With Eye Catcher through the neighborhood

The first order was largely based on my new homepage – what a success!

Hamburg Neustadt Planten un BlomenThe Hamburg-based company Eye Catcher organized a small tour of Hamburg for its employees and friends. Of course I was happy to be there. Hamburgers are always interesting to lead, as new things can come up for me too. In some areas, Hamburg’s residents are really in the know! We started at the company headquarters in Stresemannstraße and explored the surrounding area on foot. Of course, we couldn’t miss the Schulterblatt and Rote Flora! While the former Concerthaus Flora was widely known, the eponymous “Schulterblatt” on the bridge had not previously caught the attention of my participants. We walked through Schanzenpark, with its controversial luxury hotel, past the Heinrich Hertz Tower to one of Hamburg’s most famous parks – Planten un Blomen. Here you can almost forget that you’re in Hamburg, because it’s so wonderfully green and quiet – especially on a beautiful June evening.

Hamburg Neustadt Peterstraße Composers' Quarter

Along the Gorch-Fock-Wall, we walked parallel to the ramparts, which still fortified and defended the city of Hamburg in the 17th century, towards the Laeiszhalle, the Higher Regional Court and the civil and criminal justice buildings. The Brahms Kontor triggered discussions: What was written above the entrance before the building was renamed “Brahms Kontor” in 2005? On our way to Peterstraße with the composers’ quarter, we passed the children’s home from 1852 and the beautiful Chamber of Crafts. Passing the Low German Library and the Johannes Brahms Museum, we reached the glorious conclusion of our Hamburg tour: the Michel. We arrived just in time for closing time so that we could still see the outside of northern Germany’s largest baroque church. :-) Fortunately, the Kramerwitwenwohnungen are right next door, which we visited in the small traditional alleyway Krayenkamp before the “team” made their way home.

Maybe we’ll head west on our next tour! :-)
