On a pilgrimage with Krauze Travel from Fátima

tmp_18632-20170607_074112-1352605346We got up early again today. Even a little earlier, because the German-language mass, which was held at 7 a.m. in the apparition chapel, was led by our parish priest. Together with four German-speaking concelebrants, he introduced us in these 30 minutes not only to the Marian apparitions 100 years ago, but also to the apparition of the angels in Fátima and the biblical traditions.

tmp_18632-20170607_114053-308987399After breakfast, our driver Carlos took us to the Monastery of Christ in Tomar, where we almost lost our way due to the seven different cloisters, and then to the monastery in Batalha, where we were able to see for ourselves that even in the past, the cost of new buildings sometimes skyrocketed to astronomical heights. Both of these monasteries are UNESCO World Heritage Sites and are considered masterpieces of Manueline architecture, an architectural style between Baroque and Renaissance that has it all. It is full of detail and incorporates elements of oriental and African culture, and is mainly found in Portugal.

tmp_18632-20170607_1406591291280259On the way to the hotel, we stopped in the old settlement of Fátima (Ourém), where we visited the former homes of the shepherd children Lucia, Jacinta and Francisco. After a two-hour breather, we went to dinner as usual and then to the international rosary prayer and the candlelight procession. The heat during the day took its toll on us, which is why many used the break to rest. Find out more about me or my tours here. I would be delighted to be out and about with you too.
