Experience the north with Neubauer Reisen
We spent the eighth day mainly on the bus – with a magnificent view of the fjords of northwest Norway. We were able to use photo stops along the way to fill our already full photo album: sunlit mountains, cloud-covered mountains, snow-capped mountains, mountains reflected in the still waters of the fjord, fjords ending shallowly in a bay, rivers flowing leisurely alongside the road, rivers powerfully carving their way through countless rocks, bare rock plateaus, green mountainsides, waterfalls appearing out of nowhere – there was a surprise hidden around every bend and we were able to take advantage of it.
And then – after what felt like 1,000 tunnels, bridges and bends – Tromsö lay before us. The Paris of the North. After the capitals Stockholm and Helsinki, the largest city on our journey so far. We were greeted by the Arctic Ocean Cathedral and shortly afterwards the Nordlys of the Hurtigruten fleet greeted us as it set sail. After dinner at the hotel, which is only three years old, we explored this beautiful city individually or in a group. Perhaps one or two of us even went to the midnight concert in the Arctic Ocean Cathedral…
