Experience the north with Neubauer Reisen

20170623_093549[1]We started the sixth day of our trip with a drive up to the viewpoint, where an icy wind was already blowing around our noses. The route continued along Lake Inari, where we made a short stop at the bear cave and stocked up on warm accessories for the day, partly due to the gloomy views. The more athletic among us also climbed the steps up to the viewpoint.

20170623_115440[1]It was a bit of a rollercoaster ride to the Norwegian border, as the endless roads here lead up and down. At the Norwegian border, we were told by a newsreader that the clock had to be set back an hour. The break at the border with the customs officers next door was extraordinary. Arriving at the Porsangerfjord, we saw our first large herds of reindeer and, for the first time, the vastness that a Norwegian fjord can radiate. After checking into our rooms, we drove up to the North Cape in the breaking clouds, which turned out to be much less windy and cold than expected. We watched the movie, took photos, bought souvenirs or a book about Rudi the reindeer and were chauffeured back to the hotel in comfort. How lucky we were to have such beautiful weather! Part of the Scandinavian dream that we are here for has come true today.
